Description
This rare and unusual clock case, known as a Tete du Poupee, first emerged during the 1680’s and survived until the 1720’s. It’s name derived from it’s doll’s headshape, with its sinuous form replacing the angular lines of the pendulum religieuse. One of the beauty of these cases were their elaborate Boulle inlays – the technique so succesfully developend by Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1732), Ebeniste du Roi.
