Description

A Marine Chronometer is a time keeper, precise enough to be ised as a potible time standard; it can therefore be used to determine longitude by means of celestial navigation. The purpose of a chronometer is to measure accurately the time of a known fixed location. The movement has 15 jewels in gold setting and adjusted to temperature and isochronism. For many years the American Navy and Merchand Marine used English and European chronometers.
