Raingo Freres is one of the eminent Raingo brothers, the leading French makers of these clocks at the time. Raingo was of French origin and fled to Gand, Belgium circa 1800 and almost certainly remained there for the rest of his life. He is also recorded as being clockmaker to the Duc de Chatres in 1823.
