Description
The open drum eight day movement is mounted on a black marble pillar with aproned plinth, standing on a gilt wood base with original glass dome. The original coiled thermometer is mounted on a silver Reaumur scale, indicating the temperature. The Reaumur is a temperature scale in which the freezing and boiling points of water are set to 0 and 80 degrees, respectively the scale is named after Rene Antoine Ferchault de Reaumur, who first proposed something similar in 1730.
